SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Dec. 4, 2020 – Sanford Health and the Sanford Pentagon have made the decision not to allow fans at the CU Mortgage Direct Dakota Showcase basketball tournament scheduled for Dec. 10-12.

The CU Mortgage Direct Dakota Showcase is a new event that includes North Dakota, North Dakota State, South Dakota and South Dakota State in a non-conference event. All schools will play each other in the three-day, round-robin format. Midco Sports Network will air and stream all six games live. The television broadcasts will be on MidcoSN channel 2. For streaming details visit MidcoSN.com/streaming.

“The safest thing we can continue to do for the teams, the fans and our communities is to hold these games at the Sanford Pentagon without spectators,” said Jeremy Cauwels, M.D., senior vice president of clinic quality at Sanford Health. “We realize many people want to support their favorite university in person, but the safest thing to do for all involved is to watch the games from home.”

All tickets will be refunded. Contact the Sanford Pentagon Box Office at 605-312-7900 for more information.

About the Sanford Pentagon

The cornerstone of the Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is the Sanford Pentagon, a 160,000-square-foot, five-sided facility featuring nine basketball courts, including the 1950s/1960s-inspired Heritage Court. The venue combines state-of-the-art amenities—including high-definition video boards and executive suites—with period-specific finishes that are a nod to the nostalgic days of basketball.

The 3,200-seat Pentagon is home to Sanford POWER Basketball Academy, Sanford POWER Volleyball Academy, the NBA G League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce, Augustana men’s and women’s basketball, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women’s and Men’s Basketball tournaments and the South Dakota High School Basketball Hall of Fame.
