Dr. Elnahal to join Summit on Future of Rural Health Care

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. Shereef Elnahal, M.D., MBA, Undersecretary for Health, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has been added to the program for this year’s Summit on the Future of Rural Health Care, joining some of the most dynamic and influential voices in health care, technology and business for conversations focused on “pioneering innovation in a shifting landscape.”

The 3rd annual summit takes place Oct. 29 at the Sanford Barn in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It will also be livestreamed for journalists and the public to join.

Dr. Elnahal has been instrumental in leading a landmark initiative to honor America’s Veterans by providing exceptional health care that improves their health and well-being by collaborating with health systems to advance technologies that improve care coordination and efficiency of care for Veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors.

Dr. Elnahal will join a panel discussion moderated by Tina Reed, health care editor at Axios, focused on “Leading Through Change: Driving Innovation and Collaboration to Strengthen Access, Quality and Sustainability.”

Bill Gassen, president and CEO of Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, will provide opening and closing remarks at the summit.

Last year’s event brought together health system CEOs, industry experts and prominent tech leaders for candid, wide-ranging conversations focused on reimagining the rural health care workforce of tomorrow. Nearly 200 guests attended the Summit in Sioux Falls and more than 3,700 streamed the event online.
