COVID-19 booster available for patients at Sanford Jackson

SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Nov. 1, 2021 — Patients can get their booster shot at Sanford Jackson Clinic to increase their protection from COVID-19. They’re encouraged to call the clinic at 507-847-2200 to schedule an appointment.
Based on guidance from the CDC and FDA, certain populations can receive a booster shot of the Moderna vaccine or Pfizer vaccine. People who are 65 or older, those who are 18 or older who have an underlying health condition, and those who are 18 to 64 with frequent institutional or occupational exposure to SARS-CoV-2 are eligible to receive a booster dose.
Since the CDC and FDA approved the mixing and matching of booster vaccines, eligible individuals may receive a different COVID-19 vaccine as a booster than the one they originally received. Patients who initially received the Pfizer of Moderna vaccine can receive a booster shot at least six months after their second dose. For those who received the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine, they can receive a booster dose of Moderna or Pfizer’s vaccine at least two months after that initial dose.
If patients are unsure whether they qualify for a booster dose, an attached infographic explains eligibility. Patients will also be screened when they call to make an appointment ahead of time. Masks must be worn in the clinic.
According to the CDC, a booster dose helps increase protection against COVID-19, helping prevent severe disease for those who are at high-risk for exposure to the virus. Learn more about COVID-19.
