Bismarck Stroke & TBI Support Group offers connection

BISMARCK, N.D. – Sanford Bismarck invites stroke survivors, traumatic brain injury (TBI) survivors, caregivers and support persons to attend the Stroke & TBI Support Group, a free monthly gathering designed to provide encouragement, education and connection close to home.

The ongoing support group meets on the second Monday of each month and offers a safe, welcoming environment where participants can share their experiences, discuss challenges and learn from others who understand the journey of recovery.

The Stroke & TBI Support Group is led by experts and supported by Sanford Health’s stroke care team. Participants have the opportunity to learn effective coping strategies, receive education from healthcare professionals and build meaningful connections that can help reduce feelings of isolation.

“Recovery from a stroke or traumatic brain injury can present unique challenges, not only for survivors but also for their caregivers and loved ones,” said Maddie Wilke, RN, stroke program specialist, Sanford Bismarck. “This group provides a supportive community where individuals can share their stories, learn from one another and access valuable resources that can make a difference in their recovery journey.”

Discussion topics vary based on participants’ interests and needs and may include:

Input and active participation are encouraged, allowing attendees to share ideas, ask questions and support one another in a respectful and understanding environment.

The group is free and open to anyone who has experienced a stroke or traumatic brain injury, as well as family members, caregivers and support persons.
