SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Nov. 19, 2020 — The Sanford International Presented by Cambria raised $272,000 for local charities and organizations this year. Despite the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament generated nearly double what was raised in 2018 and 2019 combined. Since 2018, the tournament has given back more than $500,000 in charitable contributions and has had an annual economic impact of more than $20 million for the Sioux Falls area.

“This year created many unforeseen obstacles. However, the community of Sioux Falls and tournament did not lose sight of the end objective, which is raising funds for charities and local organizations annually,” said Josh Brewster, tournament director of the Sanford International. “We are so thankful for the support of our partners, volunteers and Sioux Falls community these past three years. The tournament will continue to push the boundaries to create a one-of-a-kind event for all to enjoy.”

The designated beneficiaries of the 2020 Sanford International are:

“Children and their families are directly impacted by these funds, and we look forward to continue the tournament’s tradition of charitable giving in the years to come,” said Micah Aberson, executive vice president at Sanford Health. “In its fourth year, the tournament will continue to evolve as a world-class event and bring our community back together again.”

In 2019, the PGA TOUR and its tournaments —  including the Sanford International — generated a record $204 million in charitable impact. That brings the TOUR’s all-time total to more than $3 billion. The amount generated in 2020 will be finalized in early 2021.

The Sanford International returns to Minnehaha Country Club Sept. 13-19, 2021.
