Good Samaritan leaders to share trends in senior care

Good Samaritan will share how medication management and technology are evolving in long-term care, translating to improved health outcomes and quality care at the 2025 McKnight’s Women of Distinction Awards and Forum. The event takes place May 13 in Chicago.

2025 Hall of Honor recipient DeeAndra Sandgren, chief nursing officer for Good Samaritan, has been invited to take part in a panel discussion titled, “Enhancing safety: How medication management is evolving.” Lois Bowers, editor with Haymarket Media, will moderate the discussion. The expert panel will explore strategies to safeguard residents, support staff and implement best practices that enhance medication safety while reducing operational burdens.

“I am looking forward to sharing how Good Samaritan uses our SAFE program and technology to promote safety in medication management,” said Sandgren. “Removing the opportunity for human error, using clear and direct language and developing strong relationships with medical directors, residents and families are tools that help ensure our residents are taking the right medications at the right time.”

2023 Hall of Honor inductee Aimee Middleton, chief operating officer for Good Samaritan, has also been invited to take part in a panel discussion titled ‘Smarter tech strategies for streamlined senior care.’ Moderated by McKnight’s Long-Term Care senior editor Kim Marselas, Middleton will be joined on the panel by executives from Sentrics and Transitional Care Management. This panel will explore how innovation is reshaping workforce strategies across the care continuum.

“Retention and recruitment are two of the biggest challenges facing the long-term care industry,” said Middleton. “I’m excited to share how Good Samaritan sees technology as a retention strategy and how much potential there is to leverage tools, like AI and virtual care, to continue to advance quality in long-term care and home care.”

Honorees and industry executives will gather to celebrate the 2025 class of Rising Stars, Hall of Honor recipients, Veteran VIPs and Spirit Award winners at the official Women of Distinction dinner and awards ceremony.
