Multi-use sports field coming soon to Sanford Sports Complex

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -– Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Sanford Sports Complex are excited to announce construction is underway on a new multi-use sports field at Sanford Sports Complex.

“Whenever possible, we try to construct fields and facilities that can accommodate a variety of sports such as football, soccer, lacrosse, rugby and more. It is a cost effective way to get more events on the same piece of land,” said Mike Patten, park development specialist. “This new field will be a great addition to Sanford Sports Complex, creating more space to host a variety of activities.”

There are approximately 8 acres of park land, located directly to the east of the Sanford Pentagon, available for future expansion of multi-use sports fields. This project will create one new athletic field, and will serve as the home to rugby.

RMS Drainage and Excavation has been selected as the contractor for the $181,000 project.

“As the Sanford Sports Complex continues to grow, diversity in what we offer is very important to us, and this project fits into that philosophy perfectly,” said Matt Ditmanson, director of business development for the Sanford Sports Complex. “We are excited the Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation is developing this multi-use sports field and look forward to seeing the variety of athletes who will benefit from it.”
