Good Samaritan Society, Sanford Health explore partnerships

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society and Sanford Health are entering discussions to explore opportunities to better serve communities by working together.

Already, the two care organizations have improved senior services in North Dakota creating Miller Pointe, a new 120-bed rehabilitation, skilled care center in southeast Mandan.

“The health care landscape across the nation continues to evolve, so it’s only natural for industry leaders to talk about potential opportunities and partnerships,” said Kelby Krabbenhoft, president and CEO of Sanford Health. “The prospect of bringing together our organizations represents a historic opportunity to create something significant with exceptional improvements in health care that spans the entire spectrum of life.”

“Both organizations have a history of working together to create integrated health care delivery and providing specific services to seniors,” said David Horazdovsky, president and CEO of The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society. “This exploration is a natural progression in how two industry leaders will address the significant challenges in meeting the needs of those we serve. Sanford and The Society have complementary services creating the ability to generate synergies and build on each other’s reputation with greater geographic reach and compelling pursuits”

The two organizations are headquartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Sanford Health spans nine states while the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society has a presence in 24 states.

Leadership from both organizations acknowledges that discussions are in an early phase and no formal timeline has been established.
