Events hall planned for Sanford’s northeast SF campus

Sanford Health plans to add an events hall on its northeast campus in Sioux Falls that will be used for conferences, corporate functions and other events.

The 10,000-square-foot building will have room for 300 to 400 people and be built with the flexibility to make the space fit Sanford Health’s needs. Additional details about the building, including a permanent name, will be announced later.

“As the Sanford family keeps expanding, we need space for our growing number of employees who attend our corporate events,” said Kimber Severson, vice president of marketing at Sanford Health. “Instead of renting out space for meetings, educational conferences and patient gatherings, we will now be able to host these events on our own campus.”

Severson says there are no plans for the building to become a wedding barn or a venue that Sanford Health would rent out.

“We are not trying to compete with other venues that provide those services,” Severson said.

Plans for the hall have been in the works for about six months. Sanford recently submitted those plans to the Sioux Falls City Council for approval to rezone the land.

The building is expected to be completed this September and will join the Sanford House, Sanford Center and Sanford Research on the health system’s corporate campus.
