BISMARCK, N.D., April 20, 2021 — Sanford Health is excited to announce John Savageau as the new director of pharmacy for the Bismarck region. For the past 29 years, Savageau has served Sanford as the manager of inpatient pharmacy and the staff pharmacist in the intensive care unit (ICU).

“John’s history in the Sanford Health pharmacy department has made his move to director a flawless transition,” said Bill Kopp, Executive Director Heart and Ancillary Services. “We are very excited to have someone with John’s background, knowledge and leadership skills to fill this role.”

Savageau’s duties will include leading the Sanford inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services. Former Director of Pharmacy, Tom Simmer, is retiring from Sanford after 45 years of service.

“What I am looking most forward to is being a servant leader to all our talented pharmacists,” expressed Savageau. “That they all have the opportunities I was given to work alongside our nursing and medical staff for our patients.”

Savageau received degrees in biology from Concordia College and pharmaceutical sciences from NDSU.

The Sanford Bismarck region provides health care to central and western North Dakota, eastern Montana and northern South Dakota. It includes 21 clinics in Bismarck, Mandan, Minot, Dickinson and Watford City, as well as a Level II trauma center located in Bismarck.
