39th annual Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament returns

FARGO, N.D. – The Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament tees off for the 39th time on Thursday, June 22, featuring a 9-hole, 18-hole and brand-new virtual golf tournaments.

The 9-hole tournament, presented by Happy Harry’s Bottle Shops, takes place at Rose Creek Golf Course, 1500 E. Rose Creek Parkway S., Fargo. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. and tee time is at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $600 per team or $175 per golfer.

The 18-hole tournament, presented by Happy Harry’s Bottle Shops, is also at Rose Creek Golf Course. Registration is at 11 a.m. and tee time is at 12 p.m. Cost is $1,100 per team or $295 per golfer.

New to Roger Maris All-Star Week is the inaugural virtual golf tournament at Suite Shots, 3400 James Wy. S., Fargo. Participants will play 18-holes virtually at the world renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course, located in San Diego, Calif. The virtual tournament runs from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. and cost is $500 per team.

Featured celebrity guests, presented by Ihry Insurance, Pepsi Beverages North America and Luther Family Buick GMC, at this year’s Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament include:

• Goose Gossage
• Cordell Volson
• Rocky Kreuser

Ken Griffey Sr. played 18 seasons in Major League Baseball. He was a three-time All-Star and two-time World Series Champion. In 2004, Griffey was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame. He is the father of Hall of Fame outfielder Ken Griffey Jr.

Goose Goosage is a 22-year veteran of Major League Baseball. He is a nine-time All-Star and in 1978, he was named the American League Rolaids Relief Man Award, which was an annual award given to the top relief pitcher in the regular season. That same season, he helped lead the New York Yankees to a World Series title.

Cordell Volson is the starting left guard for the Cincinnati Bengals. A 2022 fourth-round draft pick from North Dakota State University, Volson played in all 1,311 offensive snaps. At NDSU, he was a three-time FCS All-American and four-time FCS national champion.

Rocky Kreuser is a professional European basketball player for the Nurnberg Falcons in Germany. Kreuser played collegiately at North Dakota State University, where he was a two-time All-Summit League first team selection.

Roger Maris All-Star Week was created to support the work happening at the cancer center, honor loved ones, friends and neighbors affected by cancer, promote Roger’s passion for fitness and youth sports and celebrate the enduring legacy of hometown hero, Roger Maris.

All proceeds from Roger Maris All-Star Week and the golf tournaments remain local, benefitting the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center.
